Can we walk on it ? Do they sway like the ships in NWN2 ?

Re: 3D models

Unfortunately they don't sway like the regular sips. unless you edit the original models. Else there's lots of different invisible walk mesh ramps that can make any object walkable in the toolset. Still, the models are ment to be used together with other objects, so moving them wold require movement on all other objects related to it, but its possible.

Re: 3D models

Ok everything looks good in the toolset and the game. I also had a typo in the 2DA for the crennelations 2 model, but it's all good now. big_smile

Updated and uploaded.

My answer might have been a bit cryptic. The way to make them sway like the regular ships, wold be to replace the models of these ships with ours.

I don't know how to add animations to the models. The importer/exporter doesn't support animations as far as i know (when importing the original ship models to max, no animation follows the file)

I think the animation is added to certain models through hard coded scripting, so that "animation_boat_sway" is added to "model_NAME"

If there exist any editable files that link animations to the models, we can probably add animations to our models as well, and maybe create our custom animations.

If we could figure this out, it wold be a huge breakthrough for this mod, and open up endless possibilities for us. But i haven't found any tutorials or imp/exp that supports this.

EDIT: I found this in a tutorial. I guess this answer the question:
4. Creating a creature model with 3ds Max
Unfortunately, things get a bit more limiting here. The skeleton / animation
format used by NWN2 for is not documented. It is a format exported from some
very expensive Granny 3D software. That's why currently there is no way to
create our own skeletons and animations to be maped onto them. This means
you have to use an existing model and its skeleton which most closely
matches your model looks & movement and start from there.

Still, i will be on the alert for any new release that can fix it

Re: 3D models

Well, that's a real bummer. sad You might try to post a question about this on the NWN2 forums just to see if someone at OE can provide more insight or provide a solution.

Re: 3D models

i must say skeletor these models are awesome! might i ask what 3d modeling program you use? i used to model all the time for fun. i'm more used to 3ds max, but i cant afford it so i just get the trial every time they come out with a new one lol. i would love to see more stuff! i think that it really pumps everyone up for the server smile

Re: 3D models

Skeletor used 3ds max. I'm pretty sure he did the trial-version-dance with it as well, since he couldn't afford a license either. Pretty slick stuff though, definitely.

Are you a modeler Jacob? If so, would you like to work on some custom models yourself?

Re: 3D models

i do have some experience modeling, but im probably a little rusty. if you would like some help though i can see what i can do smile i have put things in nwn 2 from 3ds max before, but not anything other than weapons. i tried clothes before, but that was just one big headache getting in and once i did get it in game it didn't animate properly. >< if you had anything in mind you can shoot me a pm and we can discuss it smile
